Surrounded by centuries-old olive trees, dry-stone walls and the stillness of the Salento countryside, Masseria Bosco is an ancient rural estate that preserves the most authentic soul of Puglia.

Authentic Hospitality

Its original architectural features star-vaulted ceilings, exposed stone and the spacious rooms once used for farm life – have been carefully restored to welcome guests into a place where the past meets contemporary comfort.

Here, hospitality is warm, genuine and familiar. Every detail is designed to offer an experience of peace and wellbeing: the rooms created within the historic spaces, the restaurant dedicated to traditional Salento cuisine, the tastings of our own olive oils and wines, the swimming pool immersed in greenery.

History

Origins and earliest records

The roots of Masseria Bosco stretch back to the 16th century, when the estate was established as a fortified rural settlement along the ancient road between Oria and Erchie. The first documented references date to 1583 and describe vineyards and olive groves in the district known as “Lo Bosco”, an area already thriving with agricultural activity.

The masseria between the 18th and 19th centuries

Over the centuries, Masseria Bosco grew and evolved into a significant rural complex composed of dwellings, stables, storerooms and livestock enclosures. In 1797 it became the setting for a historic event: King Ferdinand IV of Naples stayed here during a journey to Lecce.
The estate was also notable for its holm oak woodland, water cisterns and rooms dedicated to cheese production.

Decline, revival and enhancement

After a long period of abandonment, the masseria was acquired by the De Padova family, who in 2001 launched an ambitious restoration and enhancement project. The intervention brought new life to the original architecture while preserving the rural memory of the place.
Today, Masseria Bosco is an authentic and elegant retreat, rich in history a place where tradition continues to dialogue with contemporary hospitality.
